  • Which light is shining on you?

While traveling through town a few nights ago and as we were progressing up a hill, a small truck pulled out a few cars ahead of us. It was a fairly bright night because of the weather and all the street lights so I assume that is the reason the driver did not notice that their headlights were not on. They continued on up the hill but were oblivious that they were actually in the dark. I got to thinking that in several ways we are often like this driver. We travel through life unaware of our sinful nature because the light of sin is all around us. It looks normal. Even when we become aware of it, we are not willing to come to a greater light because what we have is good enough, we don't really need anything brighter. We become comfortable where we are and have little to no desire to change. Even when people try to "flash" their lights at us we; at least at first, ignore them wondering what their problem is. If we are wise we will look to see what may be wrong and use that knowledge to change. So what light are you going through life with? Is it the light of the sinful world around us that says we are in no need of change or is it a brighter purer light that if we were to look up and see would reveal to us the true way to travel through life?
